Flights, accommodation, wedding outfits, legal formalities, and additional events should have their own budget lines unless your quotation explicitly includes them. Similarly, an “all-inclusive” wedding package covers its listed services, not every expense associated with your trip.

Designer or custom-made dresses: $3,000 and above.

However, the price tag is only part of the total. Add alterations, shoes, accessories, and any cleaning or garment transport costs. Also, decide whether you will contribute toward wedding party outfits.

For a tropical celebration, comfort deserves attention too. Think about how the fabric will feel during an outdoor ceremony, photographs, and dancing.

Printed invitations: approximately $2–$10 or more each.
Paid digital invitation or wedding website services: approximately $50–$200 or more; free options may also suit your needs.
Simple favors: approximately $2–$10 per guest.
Welcome bags: approximately $10–$50 or more per bag.

Before ordering, decide whether gifts are per person, couple, or room. Then, include delivery, printing extras, and luggage or shipping costs in the calculation.

A symbolic officiant is one service within the celebration. An initial allowance of $250–$600 or more can help with planning, depending on the language, personalization, and provider.

However, check your wedding package first. If an officiant is already included, you should not add that expense again.

Religious ceremonies

For a Catholic, Christian, Jewish, or other religious ceremony, request a quotation based on the arrangements you need. Clergy services, travel, venue requirements, and additional elements should have clear budget lines.

These charges should not automatically be described as government taxes. Instead, confirm who charges each fee and what it covers.

Elopements and intimate celebrations

If you want a small ceremony, compare our intimate wedding and elopement packages. Look closely at the photography coverage, transfers, decor, and beauty services in each option.

How Guest Numbers Affect the Budget

Every extra guest may add food, drinks, seating, tableware, and transport costs. However, some expenses stay broadly the same, such as a photographer’s agreed coverage or a venue rental fee.

This distinction matters when adjusting your guest list. Removing ten guests will not reduce every budget line by the same percentage.

For example, at a hypothetical food and beverage rate of $150 per person, ten additional guests add $1,500 before other applicable charges. They may also require another table, centerpiece, or vehicle.

Meanwhile, a venue minimum spend can limit the savings from a smaller group. Ask about that condition before assuming fewer guests will always mean a lower bill.

Does the Location Make a Difference?

Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, La Romana, and the north coast offer different settings. However, the city alone does not tell you which wedding will cost less.

A private villa, hotel ballroom, beach restaurant, and large resort each have their own pricing structure. In addition, vendor travel and equipment delivery can change the total.

Compare complete proposals for similar services. Otherwise, an attractive venue price may hide extra spending on transport, rentals, or setup.

Resort, Private Villa, or Independent Venue?

A resort can make the experience convenient when your guests stay together. Rooms, restaurants, and the wedding spaces may all be within the same property.

However, ask about guest passes for non-residents, outside vendor fees, event hours, and included furniture. Also, check whether the quoted package covers your full guest count.

Our basic planning examples are approximately $12,000 for 70 people and $15,000 for 80 people. These figures are not universal resort rates. The venue, menu, decor, and package conditions must match the proposal.

Private villa weddings

A villa can bring accommodation and a personal celebration together. As an initial reference, some five- or six-bedroom properties may fall around $1,500–$3,500 per night, while luxury options can cost much more.

Before booking, confirm that events are permitted. Overnight sleeping capacity is different from the approved wedding guest capacity.

Minimum stays and event fees also vary. For illustration, three nights at $2,500 plus a $1,500 event fee total $9,000 before catering and wedding services.

That calculation is a budgeting example, not a quote for a specific villa.

Independent venues and restaurants

An independent venue may suit couples who want to choose their own team and develop a more personalized design. However, confirm any vendor restrictions and what the venue already supplies.

For a customized celebration of around 80–100 people, the working range in this guide is $35,000–$65,000. This is an event-planning estimate, not a national average or an all-expenses-paid trip.

Venue Rental, Food, and Drinks

Private-use venue fees can vary widely. The planning range in our source estimates is $2,500–$25,000, depending on the property and arrangements.

Importantly, a rental fee and a food and beverage minimum are different charges. Ask whether both apply, or whether meeting the minimum changes the rental terms.

This example assumes the beverage periods are separate. If your open bar already covers dinner or cocktail hour, do not count the same service twice.

At $110 per person, the subtotal for 80 guests would be $8,800. Your actual menu, drinks selection, service duration, and applicable charges will determine the final figure.

Ask the venue to show taxes and service charges separately. A combined surcharge should not be labeled entirely as government tax.

Music, DJs, and Entertainment

Music changes the atmosphere, but you do not need to book every type of entertainment. Start with the moments you want to emphasize: the ceremony entrance, cocktail hour, or the party.

For preliminary budgeting, consider these estimates:

Live band: approximately $700–$3,000 or more.
Professional DJ: approximately $750–$2,000 or more.
Larger musical ensemble: from approximately $2,500, depending on its size and performance.
Additional sound and lighting: approximately $500–$1,000 or more for a basic scope.

Before adding equipment separately, check the performer’s package. Also, confirm performance length, breaks, travel, setup, and any stage requirements.

Officiant and Master of Ceremonies

An officiant leads the ceremony, while an MC hosts the reception. These roles may involve different people and separate fees.

Allow approximately $250–$600 or more for a symbolic officiant and $300–$1,000 or more for an MC as initial estimates. Languages, preparation, and event duration can affect the quote.

Meanwhile, a wedding coordinator handles logistics behind the scenes. Hiring an MC does not automatically replace that role.

Bridal Hair and Makeup

For bridal hair and makeup, an initial allowance of $250–$500 or more can help with planning. Services for bridesmaids or mothers may fall around $130–$200 or more per person, depending on the package.

However, ask whether those figures cover both hair and makeup. A trial may be separate, as may travel, early starts, extensions, or additional touch-up time.

Once you know how many people need services, build the morning schedule with the beauty team. A larger group may require extra stylists.

Photography and Videography

Photography and video packages differ considerably in coverage and deliverables. The planning estimates in this guide are approximately $1,250–$5,000 or more for photography and $1,600–$6,000 or more for videography.

Short ceremony coverage should not be compared directly with a full-day package. Instead, ask each team to quote the same hours and events.

Before deciding, review:

The number of photographers and videographers.
Coverage hours and overtime rates.
The photographs and edited films you will receive.
Delivery times, albums, and additional sessions.
Drone coverage, where available and permitted.
Travel expenses and any venue access fees.

Most importantly, choose a style you enjoy looking at. These are the images and films you will return to long after the wedding.

Flowers, Decor, Furniture, and Tents

Bridal bouquet: approximately $150–$500 or more.
Reception decor: approximately $1,000–$5,000 or more, depending on scope.
Tent rental: an initial allowance from approximately $2,500, with size and installation affecting the quote.

Some of these categories overlap. For example, a reception decor package may already include centerpieces or lighting. Ask for an itemized proposal before adding the figures together.

Furniture costs depend on what the venue provides and what you want to replace. Therefore, there is no useful universal minimum for chairs, tables, linens, and tableware.

For outdoor events, also discuss flooring, power, delivery, installation, and weather arrangements. A tent quote alone may not cover the complete setup.

Wedding Planning and Coordination Fees

The right planning service depends on how much you have already arranged. Full planning, partial assistance, and event-day coordination involve different responsibilities.

Our published full-planning fee is 10% of the wedding budget, subject to minimum fees based on group size:

The published schedule excludes 18% tax. Additional coordinators are listed at $250 each plus tax for the welcome dinner or wedding day; confirm the staffing requirements in your proposal.

Before signing, agree on the budget used to calculate the percentage and the events covered. Also, clarify design work, site visits, staffing, and additional celebrations.

Tips, Service Charges, and Final Expenses

First, separate contractual service charges from voluntary tips. Review each invoice before deciding whether to leave an additional gratuity.

There is no need to apply one percentage automatically to your entire wedding budget. Instead, discuss a tipping plan that reflects your contracts, preferences, and experience with the team.

Finally, leave room for expenses that are easy to miss:

Guest transfers and vendor transport.
Meals for vendors working through the reception.
Extra event hours and late-night services.
Shipping, baggage, payment, and currency conversion fees.
Weather-related arrangements or additional rentals.
Welcome dinners, excursions, and farewell gatherings.

How to Keep Your Budget Focused

Choose your three priorities before booking. Perhaps yours are excellent food, beautiful photographs, and a full dance floor. Once those are clear, decisions about everything else become easier.

Next, compare proposals by inclusions, not just the total. A slightly higher quote may cover furniture, lighting, or transport that another supplier charges separately.

Keep one budget document and update it whenever you confirm a service. Mark what is included, what is optional, and what still needs a quote. This helps prevent duplicate charges and forgotten expenses.
